Cross-border

Send a parcel to another African country without losing sight of it

Most cross-border shipments are handed between several companies before they arrive, and the merchant finds out where the parcel is by making phone calls. Trackboria keeps it as one shipment, with a record of who is holding it at every point, and your paperwork in one place.

Available on Scale and above. Cross-border shipments are prepaid.

What you get

One shipment, not four

A parcel that changes hands three times is still one shipment with one reference and one status. You do not reconcile separate tracking numbers from separate companies to answer one customer.

Custody you can prove

Every handover is confirmed at the moment it happens, by the person taking the parcel. When something goes missing you can see who held it last, with a time against it, instead of a gap.

Documents in one place

Invoices, certificates, and permits stay attached to the shipment. You can send a broker or a border officer a link that opens the paperwork, expires on its own, and can be withdrawn. You see each time it is opened.

Money that reconciles

Charges, conversions, and settlements are recorded per shipment and per currency, so your finance team can tie a payout back to a parcel without a spreadsheet.

How a cross-border shipment moves

The detail is handled for you. This is what you see.

  1. 1

    Enter the shipment

Origin, destination, what is in the parcel, and its value. We tell you which documents that route usually needs before you book, not after the parcel is at a border.

  2. 2

    Book it

You get the price and the expected transit before you commit. Cross-border shipments are paid up front, so there is nothing to collect at the door.

  3. 3

    Watch it move

Each stage is confirmed as it happens, including the handovers between carriers. Your customer gets a tracking page that does not need an account.

  4. 4

    Clear and deliver

Your broker or carrier files the declaration with the documents attached to the shipment. You see the status, the reference, and what customs said, in the same place as everything else.

Where we are straight with you

Cross-border has real limits, and you should know them before you ship rather than after.

  • We are not a customs broker and we do not file your declaration. The declaration is filed by you, the broker you appoint, or the carrier acting as declarant. We coordinate the shipment, hold the documents, and show you exactly who is filing.
  • Duty and tax figures shown before clearance are estimates for planning. The amount payable is set by the customs authority in the destination country and can differ from the estimate.
  • Cash on delivery is not available on cross-border or export shipments and cannot be enabled on them. These shipments are settled before dispatch.

Questions merchants ask

Which countries can I ship between?

Routes are opened market by market as we complete the carrier and compliance work for each corridor, starting with the busiest African trade lanes. Sign in to see the routes live on your account, or contact our team about a specific corridor.

Do you clear customs for me?

No. Trackboria is not a customs broker and does not lodge declarations. The declaration is filed by you, a broker you appoint, or the carrier acting as declarant. We coordinate the shipment, keep the documents together, and record which party is filing so there is never any doubt about who is responsible.

How much will duty be?

We show an estimate so you can plan and price your order, and we label it as an estimate everywhere it appears. The final amount is determined by the customs authority in the destination country, and it can be higher or lower than the estimate.

Can my customer pay cash on delivery?

Not on a cross-border or export shipment. These are prepaid. Cash on delivery remains available on domestic deliveries in the markets that support it.

What happens if a shipment is held at the border?

You see the status and the reason we are given, in the same place as the shipment. We coordinate with the filing party and the carrier to resolve it. Clearance decisions are made by the customs authority, so we do not promise a clearance date we cannot control.
